If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a team, school, or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that entity. ## 2. Independence from VEX — no affiliation MatchMind is an **independent** product. It is **not** affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to VEX Robotics, Innovation First International, Inc., the REC Foundation, DigiKey, or RobotEvents. "VEX," "VEX Robotics," "V5RC," "VIQRC," "VEX U," "VEX AI," "RobotEvents," and related names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only descriptively. Nothing in the Service is an official communication of those organizations. **Unofficial data.** Competition information in the Service (teams, events, schedules, matches, scores, rankings, skills, awards) is retrieved from the public RobotEvents API and may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect. **Always verify with event officials and official sources.** We are not responsible for decisions made in reliance on data shown in the Service. ## 3. Eligibility, accounts, and legal names - You must be **at least 13 years old** to create a standard account. **Children under 13** may use the Service only after we obtain **verifiable parental consent**, and until then certain features (messaging and media sharing with people outside your own team) are disabled for those accounts (see Privacy Policy §6). - **Legal name required.** You agree to register and be identified by your **legal first and last name** — not a nickname, username, or alias — because names are used to identify you to teammates, to people you message, and to people you invite. Providing a false name is a violation of these Terms. - You agree to provide accurate account information, select your true role (student, coach, or parent), and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. - One account per person. Do not impersonate any person or team, or claim a team affiliation that is not real. - We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines. ## 4. License and acceptable use We grant you a personal, limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own (or your team's) non‑commercial competition preparation, on devices you own or control. You agree NOT to: - Harass, bully, threaten, or demean anyone, or post/send hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content (this platform serves minors); - Contact, solicit, or attempt to obtain personal information from minors for any inappropriate purpose; - Bypass or attempt to bypass safety features (content filters, identity‑sharing acknowledgments, role limits, age gating, blocking, or reporting); - Misuse AI or data features to cheat, sabotage other teams, or violate competition rules or codes of conduct (including the REC Foundation Code of Conduct); - Scrape, harvest, or bulk‑export data, overload our or third‑party APIs, or use the Service to build a competing dataset; - Reverse engineer, modify, or create derivative works of the app except where the law permits; - Upload malware, infringe others' rights, or violate any law; - Use another user's account or share accounts. ## 5. Your content and messaging - **Ownership.** You keep ownership of content you create (scout notes, photos/videos/audio, tasks, messages, AI prompts) ("User Content"). - **License to us.** You grant us a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to host, store, process, transmit, and display your User Content **solely to operate and improve the Service**, including delivering messages to the recipients you choose and processing by the service providers described in the Privacy Policy. - **Messaging and identity sharing.** When you start a new conversation, create a group, or send an invite, a limited part of your identity (legal first name, last initial, and email) is shared with that person, and — once you are connected — your full legal name and profile photo. The app discloses this and requires your confirmation **every time** you reach a new person (see Privacy Policy §7). By using messaging you accept this sharing. - **Media limits.** You may send images, audio recordings, files, and short videos **up to 400 MB** each. Don't upload content you don't have the rights to, and get permission before uploading identifiable photos, video, or audio of other people — especially minors. - **Removal.** We may remove or restrict User Content that violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or the law. ## 6. AI features — important disclaimers - AI responses, match predictions, alliance recommendations, and image/robot analysis are **automatically generated estimates for informational purposes only**. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, and are **not** official rules interpretations, engineering advice, or guarantees of outcomes. - The **official game manual, official Q&A, and event referees are the only authoritative sources** for rules; verify anything important before acting. - You are responsible for your decisions (alliance selection, robot changes, strategy). To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for outcomes of decisions made in reliance on AI output or competition data. ## 7. Communications and notifications By creating an account you consent to service communications (verification, security, and safety notices, including moderation warnings). Optional notifications — a new message, a group you're added to, or your team releasing a match score — and invitation emails are sent as configured by you or on your request, and can be disabled or muted. All messaging is subject to the Community Guidelines, automated content filtering, and moderation; messages that fail the filter are not delivered. ## 8. Safety, moderation, and enforcement The Service uses automated content filtering plus review of reports. Content that is flagged is blocked and not delivered, and may generate a moderation record for the operator. Depending on severity and history we may warn, restrict features, suspend, or permanently ban an account, and — where appropriate for safety — preserve and disclose content or notify a coach/organization or authorities. Suspensions escalate with repeated violations and do not reset. Appeals: email **help@vexmatchmind.com** from your account email. ## 9. Third‑party services The Service depends on third parties (RobotEvents API, Google Firebase/Google Cloud, Render hosting, AI providers, Resend email, Google reCAPTCHA/App Check). We are not responsible for their availability or acts. External links (e.g., vexforum.com, official manuals) are provided for convenience; their content is not ours. ## 10. Fees The Service is currently free. We may introduce paid features later; if so, we will disclose pricing and terms before you incur any charge. Purchases through a mobile app store are also subject to that store's terms. ## 11. Intellectual property The app's software, design, branding, and content we create are owned by [COMPANY_LEGAL_NAME] or its licensors and protected by law. Except for the license in Section 4, no rights are granted. Feedback you send us may be used without obligation to you. ## 12. Disclaimers THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED **"AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE"** WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON‑INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT DATA (INCLUDING COMPETITION DATA AND AI OUTPUT) IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR‑FREE. ## 14. Limitation of liability TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITIES (INCLUDING COMPETITION OUTCOMES); AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW (including, where applicable, liability relating to minors' safety). ## 15.
